According to CNBC, Andy Friedman is “one of the nation’s most sought-after speakers on all things political.”  An expert on political affairs, Andy is known for predicting the outcomes of Washington tax and fiscal deliberations and providing financial advisors and investors with strategies to consider in light of the changing political landscape.

Andy was a senior partner with the law firm of Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C., where he practiced for almost thirty years, serving as head of the tax and corporate groups.  He received his bachelor degree as valedictorian from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and his law degree from the Harvard Law School.

Andy also served as tax counsel to Major League Baseball, the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, and the National Hockey League.

Patti Solis-Doyle: Presidential campaign manager for Hillary Clinton, political organizer and campaign strategist

Solis Doyle is a partner at Utrecht & Phillips, a Washington, DC law firm that offers strategic counseling and representation before Congress and the executive agencies as well as federal and state campaign finance and ethic law. Solis Doyle is also President of Solis Strategies, which offers strategic communication and political advice. In both roles, Solis Doyle works with a variety of international and national corporate and government clients.

Solis Doyle is a political organizer and campaign strategist with unprecedented insight into several of the most important campaigns of the past 30 years, including Richard Daley’s [1990] campaign for Mayor of Chicago, Bill Clinton’s successful bid for President in 1992, Hillary Clinton’s historic election to the U.S. Senate in 2000 and her failed campaign for President, and Barack Obama’s landslide victory in 2008.

Solis Doyle served as a senior advisor to Hillary Clinton from the earliest days of then Governor Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign, through two terms in the White House, her election and re-election to the U.S. Senate, and her presidential campaign. As campaign manager of Clinton’s presidential bid from January 2007 through February 2008, Solis was the first Hispanic woman to lead a presidential effort in the United States.

During the 2008 general election, Solis Doyle joined Obama for America campaign as chief of staff for the Vice Presidential operations. In this role, Solis built a national team of policy, communications, political and field operatives in advance of the nominee’s selection. She later managed day to day operations for Joe Biden.

A Chicago Sun Times profile noted Solis’s extraordinary rise “in a business where it is rare for females to pilot major campaigns and minorities in key posts are even harder to find.” A New York Times profile noted her low key style “stands apart in the attention-grabbing world of political consultants.”

Solis Doyle was among the earliest staffers to join then Governor Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign, and she was the first hired to work for Hillary Clinton. From 1993 to 2001, Solis served in the White House as the Director of Scheduling and Advance for the First Lady, promoting administration policies on children, health care and women’s issues. She was also responsible for helping the First Lady build political support for Democratic candidates nationwide.

Solis took a leave from her White House duties to serve as Chief of Staff of Clinton’s 2000 Senate campaign, where she managed the campaign’s day to day operations and coordinated press, policy, political, and scheduling operations. Following Clinton’s election, Solis Doyle founded and led HILLPAC, Clinton’s political action committee, and Friends of Hillary, Clinton’s re-election campaign. From 2001 to 2007, HILLPAC became one of the largest and most successful sources of fundraising for Democrats.

Solis has been honored with the “2007 Latinas of Excellence Award” by Hispanic Magazine for her accomplishments in the area of government, politics and civil leadership. She also received the “Siempre Inspiran” award from Siempre Mujer magazine, honoring remarkable Latinas whose achievements and contributions to their communities are helping shape the future of Hispanic women in this country. Hispanic Business Magazine recently named her one of America’s “100 Most Influential Hispanics.”

Solis Doyle received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Northwestern University. She currently resides in Washington, DC with her husband and their two children.

Scott Turow; Author & Speaker

Scott Turow is a writer and attorney. He is the author of nine best-selling works of fiction, including his first novel Presumed Innocent (1987) and its sequel, Innocent (May 4, 2010). His works of non-fiction include One L (1977) about his experience as a law student, and Ultimate Punishment (2003), a reflection on the death penalty. He frequently contributes essays and op-ed pieces to publications such as The New York Times, Washington Post, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Playboy and The Atlantic. Mr. Turow’s books have won a number of literary awards, including the Heartland Prize in 2003 for Reversible Errors, the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award in 2004 for Ultimate Punishment and Time Magazine’s Best Work of Fiction, 1999 for Personal Injuries. His books have been translated into more than 25 languages, sold more than 25 million copies world-wide and have been adapted into a full length film and two television miniseries.

Mr. Turow continues to work as an attorney. He has been a partner in the Chicago office of an international firm, SNR Denton (formerly Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal), since 1986, concentrating on white collar criminal defense while also devoting a substantial amount of time to pro bono matters.

Scott Turow was born in Chicago in 1949. He graduated with high honors from Amherst College in 1970. He was Edith Mirrielees Fellow at Stanford University Creative Writing Center from 1970 – 1972. From 1972 – 1975, Mr. Turow taught Creative Writing at Stanford as E. H. Jones Lecturer. In 1975, he entered Harvard Law School and graduated with honors in 1978. From 1978 – 1986, he was an Assistant United States Attorney in Chicago and served as lead counsel in a number of prosecutions related to corruption in the legal profession connected to Operation Greylord, a federal investigation of corruption into the Illinois judiciary.

Mr. Turow has been active in a number of charitable causes including organizations that promote literacy, education and legal rights. In 1997 – 1998, he served as president of the Authors Guild, the nation’s largest membership organization of professional writers and is presently serving as President once again. He is also a Trustee of Amherst College.

Additionally, he performs with the Rock Bottom Remainders, a musical group of best seller authors raising funds for various literacy charities. As Dave Barry puts it: “We play music about as well as Metallica writes novels.”

Mr. Turow has been appointed to a number of public bodies. He was the first Chair of Illinois’ Executive Ethics Commission. He served as one of the fourteen members of the Commission appointed in March, 2000, by Illinois Governor George Ryan to consider reform of the capital punishment system. Scott Turow has three adult children.
